Alternative Angel

This is a "re-imagining" of an older piece I did well over 2 years ago, but was never happy with; partly because the original was done on really awful paper that not only scanned atrociously, it really didn't accept coloured pencil very well, and also partly because I wasn't good enough then to get it to come out like I saw in my mind's eye. Granted, this still isn't really how I see it in my mind, but it's closer! The inspiration came from a friend I knew from a forum online; he uploaded a webcam photo of him holding the inner portion of a floppy disk over his head, pretending it was his halo; I thought it'd be oddly befitting for Ivy.
The brownish smudge is where the family dog decided it'd be a good time to try and leap into my lap - unfortunately, we were out in the garden, I had my sketchbook in my lap, and she had muddy paws. Geh. You can also see on this one I wasn't sure what sort of wings to give her - bird wings or dragonfly ones. Yes, yes, I'm aware that angel wings are horribly cliché and overdone, but it suits Ivy, so there. There's something also about the way the linework looks in this picture that I prefer over the final inks, but that's probably because I hadn't done the eraser-work yet.
Also available in final linework and colours. (The coloured image still isn't the final piece - I have a backdrop I'm planning on putting in - but I'm not sure how that'll ultimately look.)
